About the roadmap

Working with stakeholders from government, industry and academia, the UK Connected and Automated Mobility Roadmap provides direction for decision makers, investors and policy makers for the mobile future.  The roadmap addresses developments from the present day to 2030, with a single vision of dependencies, investment needs and the path to scale capabilities and technologies.

The roadmap is focused on four themes

Icon: Society
Society and people

Considering the effects of emerging legislation and regulation, public acceptance and establishing the appropriate CAM skills pipeline will ensure a strong societal foundation.

Icon: Infrastructure

Cameras, sensors, antennae, signaling, signage, real-time traffic information, parking, charging points. We're fostering collaboration to make a compatible world.

Icon: Vehicles

Challenges relating to automated control systems, software and updates as well as connectivity and vehicle design are fundamental in understanding the nature of these new vehicles and how they will function.

Icon: Services

The development of any technology is underpinned by the services it will be used for. Applications in accessibility, mobility and transport, freight and logistics operations will define the ways in which connected and self-driving technology matures.
