Millbrook and the UK Atomic Energy Authority’s RACE will operate a testbed for the development of CAV technologies across two sites, offering the full spectrum of controlled to semi-controlled urban environments and 90km of roads.

Investment by the Millbrook-Culham Urban Testbed in 5G, data storage, vehicles and simulation, together with unique access to a 2,000 person adult population in a secure site, will enable testing to capture human aspects of real-world operation for CAVs, including Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS).

Both sites will have purpose-built workspaces with integrated state of the art accommodation to enable development and testing of CAV technology. In addition, digital models of both sites will be available to allow for testing of software across a range of simulated and physical environments.
