UTAC and the UK Atomic Energy Authority’s RACE operates a testbed for the development of CAV technologies across two sites, offering the full spectrum of controlled to semi-controlled urban environments and 90km of roads.
Investment by the UTAC-Culham Urban Testbed in 5G, data storage, vehicles and simulation, together with unique access to a 2,000 person adult population in a secure site, enables testing to capture human aspects of real-world operation for CAVs, including Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS).
Both sites have purpose-built workspaces with integrated state of the art accommodation to enable development and testing of CAV technology. In addition, digital models of both sites are available to allow for testing of software across a range of simulated and physical environments.
