The nine-month Sentinel Shuttle feasibility study will assess how Level 4 driverless electric shuttle services can operate safely and commercially on NHS hospital and long-term care estates, using real-time onboard monitoring to enable operation without a safety driver. Working with NHS estate teams, the study will assess typical movement patterns, identify suitable shuttle routes and define the operational conditions under which driverless services could run safely. In parallel, Alexander Dennis will provide insight into vehicle integration using a Level-4-ready electric shuttle platform.

Project objectives
Objectives for this project include the following:
- Examine how Moonbility’s passenger monitoring technology can be used in real-world healthcare environments to detect falls, unsafe behaviour, accessibility needs and safety-critical events.
- Produce an investment-ready business case with defined operating models, safety and regulatory pathways, and commercial viability.
- Develop a clear, regulator-aligned blueprint showing how zero-emission driverless shuttles could be introduced across NHS estates and similar UK campuses.
