TACTIC, a six-month feasibility study led by the International Centre for Digital Trade and Innovation (iC4DTI), will develop an investment-ready business case for a new autonomous freight corridor linking Teesport and Teesside International Airport within the Teesside Freeport. The project will demonstrate how trusted real-time cargo movement data and connected automated vehicles can streamline trade processes and reduce delays and costs while improving reliability for UK businesses.

Introducing TACTIC, a feasibility study which combines data capture and autonomous vehicles to increase the efficiency and reduce the cost of cross-border trade movements.
About the project
Project objectives
Objectives for this project include the following:
- Explore a trade-facilitation layer that uses trusted, real-time events from vehicles alongside digital trade documents to pre-clear lorries and improve efficiency.
- Assess whether the service can operate commercially without a safety driver in Teesside.
- Map opportunities for the UK supply chain in areas such as secure sensors, connectivity and control software.
- Position the UK for first-mover advantage in autonomous freight services that are faster, safer and easier to scale.
