We work together for the mobile future

Zenzic leads the self-driving revolution by bringing together and unifying industry, government and academia to set the world standard for excellence. These bodies together form Testbed UK.

About the Ecosystem

The UK is the global centre for the innovation and development of connected and self-driving vehicle technologies. We are creating Testbed UK – the only place worldwide with the capability to safely take ideas from concept to development both virtually and physically, all within a 3-hour drive. The UK’s comprehensive and integrated facilities are world-leading, with the cross-sharing of data and a collaborative way of working.

The UK government has dedicated £100 million, through Zenzic, for the development of connected and automated mobility (CAM) testing and development capabilities in the UK. This funding is provided by the Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CCAV) via competitions run by Innovate UK.

Industry has also dedicated funding for the development of the connected and automated future. Government investment is match-funded by industry. So far 28 companies from SMEs and start-ups through to multi-nationals make up the six consortia in Testbed UK.

The UK boasts four of the top ten research universities in the world. Leading universities are working with Testbed UK to drive innovation and development nationally and globally.
