The UK government has dedicated £100 million, through Zenzic, for the development of connected and automated mobility (CAM) testing and development capabilities in the UK. This funding is provided by the Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CCAV) via competitions run by Innovate UK.
Industry has also dedicated funding for the development of the connected and automated future. Government investment is match-funded by industry. So far 28 companies from SMEs and start-ups through to multi-nationals make up the six consortia in CAM Testbed UK.
The UK boasts four of the top ten research universities in the world. Leading universities are working with CAM Testbed UK to drive innovation and development nationally and globally.
